Event "Night Hawk" was organized (on 10th November 2008) to launch  SZABIST Astronomy Society,  with an aim to promote Astronomy amongst students at SZABIST. The ceremony began with the founding president, Abubakr Shekhani, stating the aims and objectives of this Society. This was followed by a lecture on Astronomy  by Mr. Khalid Marwat, who is himself a long time Astrononomy enthusiast and excellent resource person in this regard.

Participants were then treated to a practical sky watching session (using an 8-inch Schmidt Cassegrain and a Bi-scope) arranged at rooftop of 100 Clifton building. Enthusiasts were provided first hand information about the features of the night sky and other heavenly bodies. Computer simulations were also shown to predict the location of various planets.

The Executive Committee of the society includes Abubaker Shekhani, Munira Sultan, Ammar Islam, Kayras (from BS Computing program), Mr. Khalid Marwat (from EMBA program) and Dr.Najmi Haider. The Membership is now open for this society.
