Teaching Lab-VI consist of 12 IBM NetVista Pentium-IV, 2.6 GHz, 256MB RAM, 40GB HDD with Windows XP Professional operating system, MS-Office XP, MS Studio .Net, Platform, Oracle 10g and Developer/6i, Turbo C++, Client software for OS/400 and other utilities installed. Internet facility is also available.
An Internet Exclusive Laboratory has been established with a Proxy / Web Server and connected to the Communication Proxy / Mail Server and the Internet bandwidth of 1.5 MB from Zabnet to provide fast Internet access. The Internet Laboratory has 30 IBM NetVista Pentium-III, 1000 MHz, 256MB RAM, 20GB HDD with Windows 2000 professional operating system, Fast HP Scan jet 4500c Scanner, Color Printer, HP Network Laser Printer and Dot Matrix, Printing Facilities.
LOCAL AREA NETWORK
SZABIST has established Fiber-optical connection between 90 and 100 Clifton this year to access faster link between two buildings.
100 Campus is also connected with 11MB Radio Modem Link (Wave Rider) through which all workstations are sharing resources including all Servers, Printers, Internet, Email and other accessories installed at Main Campus.
SZABIST has established this type of radio connectivity (11Mbps) for very first time in Pakistan .
Wi-Fi Technology
Szabist students and faculty members can access the Internet e-mail and the powerful servers in the computer laboratories through wireless from any place in the campus, for example garden and the hallway, even while sitting in the car in the parking lot. All one needs is a notebook/laptop PC with Wi-Fi capabilities complying global standards of RFC: 802.1lb.
Online University
Application server Intel Xeon dual processor 3.0 GHz, 2GB ECC RAM, 72GB HDD, RAID controller 0 and 1, DVD multi burner for data backup. Installed Windows server 2003 as an operating system with e-learning application software for students and faculty access through the Internet.
Storage server Intel Xeon dual processor 3.0 GHz, 2GB ECC RAM, 216GB HDD, RAID controller 0, 1 and 5 for data storage, DVD multi burner for data backup. Installed Windows server 2003 running data storage applications for students and faculty records.
Both machines are rack mounted installed with Pix-Security firewall to secure the e-learning application software for reliable access to all users.
