Exclusive Laboratory
has been established with a Proxy / Web Server and connected to the
Communication Proxy / Mail Server and the Internet bandwidth of 1.5

to provide fast Internet access. The Internet Laboratory has 30 IBM
NetVista Pentium-III, 1000 MHz, 256MB RAM, 20GB HDD with
Windows 2000 professional operating system, Fast HP Scanjet 4500c Scanner,

SZABIST has established Fiber-optical
connection between 90 and 100
100 Campus is also connected with 11MB Radio Modem Link (Wave Rider) through which all workstations are sharing resources including all Servers, Printers, Internet, Email and other accessories installed at Main Campus. SZABIST has established this type of radio
connectivity (11Mbps) for very first time in
Wi-Fi Technology
Szabist students and faculty members can access the Internet e-mail and the powerful servers in the computer laboratories through wireless from any place in the campus, for example garden and the hallway, even while sitting in the car in the parking lot. All one needs is a notebook/laptop PC with Wi-Fi capabilities complying global standards of RFC: 802.1lb. Online University

Both machines are rack mounted installed with Pix-Security firewall to secure the e-learning application software for reliable access to all users.
SZABIST
has dedicated a complete block of building for the Media Sciences Program.
It currently includes one studio equipped with lights and audio setup, two non-linear editing suites, and
an audio studio. The facilities are currently being expanded.
Media equipment at SZABIST currently includes:
Media Suite Server Pentium 4, 4GHz processor loaded with 120GBX3 Hard Drives, Graphic Accelerator Cards, DVD writer and Matrox RTX 100 Xtreem Pro digital Video Processing system attached with 14inch Television, Creative Audigy Audio System. Media Work Stations: 2x Intel Pentium 4 machines having 512 MB RAM and housing 80 GB 7200 RPM HDD. Each workstation is Hyper Threading enabled on Intel D865 PERL Boards. All machines are equipped with Firewire IEEE 1394 ports (400 Mbps interfaces for digital I/O). Animation Lab: 10x Intell LGA 775 Pentium 4, 3 GHz processor, processor loaded with 120GBX2 Hard Drives, 1GB RAM DDR2, 256MB Redian Graphics Media Accelerator card, DVD Multi Recorder, 17” CRT monitors, Firewire facility. Cameras: Sony DCR-VX2000E; Sony DCR PD150P; Sony PD 170 with dolly and tripods Video recording equipment (VTR);2 X Sony DV DSR-45P with Audio recording equipment (ATR). Videoconferencing Equipment: Sony PCS-1P (Broadband IP networks) (MPEG4/Near broadcast quality) along with Yamaha Emx5000 12 Channel Audio mixer+Amp (500Wx2) and 8 Channel Mixer+Amp (250Wx2)+10 VHF Cordless microphones.

The SZABIST library contains a rich collection of books on most information technology and management sciences topics. The library is equipped with a Multimedia / Internet station to help students explore information available on CDs and the Internet. The library subscribes to a number of Magazines & Journals to update students’ knowledge on the current developments taking place nationally and internationally. The Library subscribes to the IEEE / ACM Digital on-line Library through which SZABIST students can access on-line computer journals and magazines. The library is also linked to 12,500 full text online academic journals through the HEC digital library access. In addition, the library also subscribes to a number of Digital On-line libraries through which students can access an unlimited number of journals and magazines. SZABIST is also an institutional member of the British Council library. SZABIST library is equipped with ZABLIS, the most modern library automated system. |
